Date Added: 30/10/2012

Following their success at the South Coast Track and Field championships, Zoe Henare and Lauren Woodward recently competed at the State Championships held in Cairns. Zoe, Year Six and Lauren Year Seven, competed in the Shot Put event with Lauren also adding Discus to her schedule. Both girls have put in a tremendous effort, to make it to this level of competition. Their hard work and persistence is to be commended.

Lauren came a commendable 9th in the Shot Put throwing 9.64m. In discus, she achieved a Personal Best with an enormous 38.39m which placed her 3rd.

This is the 2nd year in a row that Zoe has competed at the state titles in Shot Put. This year Zoe threw a massive 12.37m to win the 11 Year girls State Championship. Zoe only missed the state record by 11cm.

Zoe and Lauren were also successful in making the Queensland Track and Field team to compete at the National Championships and will now travel to Adelaide in November. We congratulate the girls on their fine efforts and wish them the very best for nationals. Well done!!
