Lions Youth of the Year Quest Success

Date Added: 28/02/2013

Congratulations to our School Captain Team Sarah Walton, Justin Tong, Tessa Anderson and Jaden Arndt who all competed well in the Lion’s Youth of the Year Quest.

Calvary hosted a Club final where all the entrants undertook a 40 minute interview with 3 members of the community (who form the judging panel). They then presented two impromptu speeches of 2 minutes each, and a 5 minute prepared speech on a topic of their choosing. Two winners were chosen; one for Public Speaking and one overall winner.

On the night Tessa was awarded ‘Best Public Speaker’ and Sarah won the overall award for the ‘Best of the Night’.

Sarah progresses on to the Zone final in March, where another winner will be chosen to progress on Regional judging. The competition then goes to district, state and national level.

The Lion’s Youth of the Year Quest is an annual Quest run by Lion’s Clubs across Australia. It seeks to give young people the opportunity to enhance general abilities such as interview skills and presentation skills.

This is the 49th year that the Quest has been running and has seen some notable former contestants like Peter Beattie and Kevin Rudd.

Well done, we are very proud of you all
