Caitlyn selected for QSQUAD

Date Added: 07/03/2013

Year Eleven student Caitlyn Smith has been selected for the Queensland Athletics Q-SQUAD.Queensland Athletics introduced the Q-SQUAD to recognise fine Queensland athletes and to provide these talented athletes a recognition pathway.

As a Q-SQUAD member, Caitlyn is one of the best athletes in Queensland for her age and event, the 200m. Caitlyn recently took part in the Queensland State Championships in the 200m under 18 girls event and came second. However, she is now the fastest 16 year old girl in this event in Queensland!

Last week she ran in a 200m open event where she was the youngest at 16 and the oldest was Sally Pearson, at 27.  She came fifth, which was excellent considering the competition she was up against.Caitlyn’s next goal is to get into the "A-SQUAD" which is the top 8 athletes in Australia in a particular event. This will take a lot of hard work but we know that she is up to the challenge.

The slogan for the squad is "Queensland Talent" - so well done Caitlyn!
