Calvary Futsal Champs

Date Added: 26/04/2013

Calvary Christian College has had exceptional results in the South-East Qld Schools Futsal Championships, arguably the strongest and most successful school attending the event.

Calvary won the U10 Boys, U15 Boys & U16 Girls divisions and the U12 Girls were runners up in their division.

The U19 Girls were semi-finalists and the U14 Girls were quarter-finalists.

The U14 Boys team also went through all of their games undefeated, but unfortunately due to the rules of the tournament, a draw on the Finals Day halted their progression through to further finals.

Calvary has Futsal teams at both the Springwood and Carbrook Campuses from Year 6 through to Open level and have been entering teams into the championships for over 5 years.

With seven coaches and senior students coaching the junior teams, Futsal is certainly thriving at Calvary.

Many of our students have gone on significant success at State and National levels both as teams and individuals over the past couple of years.

In 2012 the U14 Boys were the Australasian Champions in the Australasian Champion of Champions tournament, with the U14 Girls and U16 Girls both runners up.

Between 2010 and 2012 we’ve had at least one of our boy’s teams win the Australian Championships in their division – 2012 U16 Boys, 2011 U15 Boys and 2012 the U14 Boys.

Futsal Coordinator at Calvary Christian College, Mr Brent Morton said,

“It’s a reflection on the natural talent of our students and our dedicated and gifted coaches that we can achieve such excellent results.

“We are very proud of the excellent effort of all our students and staff.”
