"Enviro Craft" EKKA Show Bag Takes Top Prize

Calvary Christian College has been awarded 1st prize for The Ekka”'Design your own awesome Show bag Competition”, held in Brisbane recently. The competition received hundreds of entries from schools across Queensland.



24 Students in years Prep through to Year Six in the Enrichment and Extension Program at Calvary Christian College Springwood campus prepared show bags for the competition.



Calvary Christian College provide enrichment and extension opportunities for students who achieve high academic results and demonstrate skills in creative, flexible thinking and problem solving. 



The winning entry was made by the group of students in Years Three and Four (Grace Kim, Kirsten McEwan, Darcy Brown, Olivia Brown, Isaac Kim, Sarah Miles, Samara Lau, Daniel McEwan and Shaun Greener). They named their bag “Enviro Craft - reduce, reuse, recycle”.



In the bag students included items that they had made out of  glossy magazine pages. They carefully cut an folded strips of paper and wove them together to make a set of coasters and included instructions on how to make the items.



Entries were due Monday 22 July and the winning entry was announced on 29th of July.



Calvary Christian College students were exclusively invited to the Ekka on Sunday 4 August, prior to the opening of the Ekka. They were allowed to look through 400 different show bags and each student choose one to take home. Channel 9 News were there filming it all.
