Artworks make waves

Date Added: 10/03/2011

Three Calvary College students have broken the mold at Logan Art Gallery’s annual exhibition for schools.

Year 11 Visual Art students, Jenna Chippindall, Michael Schmidt and Joshua Van Manen, each had two artworks selected for hanging in the exhibition.

This was an exceptional achievement because the gallery has a policy of selecting no more than five works per school. However, the vetting committee could not select one to eliminate so waived the policy and exhibited the six works submitted.

All artworks from Calvary Christian College were hung on one wall of the gallery as the vetting committee was highly impressed with the quality of computer-generated illustration work and digital rendering produced by the College’s Year 11 students in Photoshop.

Artworks from more than 30 schools are usually separated and spaced throughout the gallery so each student’s work is celebrated rather than the focus being on schools they attend. This year, The gallery’s promotional manager made an exception as she wanted to showcase the creativity and talent being developed at Calvary Christian College through Graphic Design programs in Visual  Art.
